Scott’s career in public education extended over 30 years, serving in various leadership roles at the York Region District School Board as well as acting as a Special Advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Education, Ontario in the Labour and Operations Branch. During that time, he had the opportunity to develop leadership skills in a number of roles, including 15 years in senior administration, most recently serving as the Director of Education at YRDSB. His extensive involvement with leading and developing high performing teams, community building, government, labour relations as well as work with Trustees and the public has given him a deep understanding of personal and organizational leadership, strategic planning, navigating challenging circumstances, public policy, the value of effective governance and the importance of relationship building to achieve shared success. Scott’s close attention to detail combined with his relationship building skills and the development of coalitions through authentic engagement have allowed him to successfully lead teams and organizations through change, challenging times, the development of Strategic Plans and the implementation of numerous innovative and inclusive initiatives throughout his career.

Scott has supported or led several high performing teams throughout his career at the local school board level, and provincially as a strategic advisor at the Ministry of Education – Ontario and as a member of the Labour Relations Council (LRC) on behalf of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA). 

As part of his current practice, Scott acts as a Leadership Strategist for The Salvation Army and outside that role, works closely with a variety of partners to provide leadership mentoring, strategic advice, system navigation and change management strategies while creating growth opportunities. Scott also continues to serve his community in a variety public service and voluntary roles.
